Phoebe Philo and her team opened the doors to their elegantly designed new flagship store on Mount Street today. Clear grey marmorino plastered walls and marbled floors inlaid with semi-precious stones, greeted eager customers. Danish artist FOS created specially commissioned artistic details including door handles, floor lamps and a chandelier.
Born in Paris and educated at Central Saint Martins in London, Philo won the ‘British Designer of the Year’ award in 2010 and the ‘International Designer of the Year’ award in 2011.

Geometric shapes were integral to her accessories for the season. Bags featured square handles coupled with cubic bangles and chunky, rectangular platform shoes.

In a move away from her usual minimalism and understated elegance, Philo introduced bright colours and bold graphic prints for Spring /Summer 2014. The layered look and asymmetrical pleated skirts were teamed with coats and blazers.

Travel informed the Spring/Summer collections of many designers at Paris Fashion Week. It is represented by colourful tribal prints in the collection at Celine.

At 70 and with more than 100 films to her credit, including the controversial ‘Belle De Jour’; the fiercely private Catherine Deneuve embodies French chic, aging well and being ‘bien dans sa peau’. She has been the muse for Yves Saint Laurent and the face of MAC, L’Oreal, Louis Vuitton and Chanel No.5, among others.
In her new film ‘On My Way’ she stars as Bettie, an aging beauty queen, dealing with a failed relationship and an ailing restaurant. She takes a road trip to clear her head. Along the way she picks up a passenger; her charming, rude but comforting grandson. The film is set in the lovely French scenery of rural Brittany.

Whilst she has had many relationships, Catherine has only been married once, at 21, to British photographer David Bailey. She has two children. A son Christian from her relationship with director Roger Vadim and a daughter, Chiara from her relationship with actor Marcello Mastroianni.

Five months since her appointment as global merchandising director at All Saints, Anita Barr is on the move again. She will be joining Harvey Nichols as its new group buying director at the end of March. She will be responsible for womenswear, menswear and accessories buying and report to new chief executive Stacey Cartwright, who joined Harvey Nichols last month.
Cartwright said, “I am delighted that Anita will be joining the senior management team. This is an exciting time for Harvey Nichols and her expertise and experience in this market will help strengthen our fashion leadership in the sector.”
Barr is moving to Harvey Nichols from All Saints where she is global merchandising director.
Barr said, “I am thrilled to be joining Harvey Nichols in this transformative chapter in the long and proud history of one of the world’s leading luxury department stores.”
